$35 Million Settlement By Walmart in WA

Walmart will settle to the tune of $35 million to a group of 88,000 workers from Washington State Walmart stores according to ABC News. An ABC News article by Gene Johnson (AP) states that this lawsuit is part of a string of lawsuit throughout the country against Walmart due to alleged wage and hour disputes in its’ stores.

The lawsuit lasted over eight years and terms of the settlement also include a commitment by Walmart to prevent its’ stores from committing wage and hour violations.

In a statement issued by a Walmart spokesperson, Walmart clarified that their policy was to pay their workers for every hour worked and to make breaks available for both resting and eating. The spokesperson further stated that the lawsuit was filed eight years ago and stated that the allegations are not representative of Walmart stores today.
